RIP Cassandra Wilson

Oh no! I just read that Cassandra Wilson has passed away! Far too young—she was only 70. She had such a beautiful, smoky voice, and I remember her as a gentle, unassuming person. I had the pleasure of meeting her once during a joint interview at the North Sea Jazz Festival—I think it was in 2004. A lovely memory. My thoughts are with her family, and I’m putting on one of her records.
